I began playing piano at age three and continued my musical training throughout college, graduating from Southern Illinois University with a Music Education degree. Throughout high school and college, I played in a variety of small groups as well has performed solo gigs in the greater St. Louis area. 

Beginning in 1997, while living in Stuttgart, Germany, I performed regularly with my trio in several jazz clubs in the Stuttgart area. I also had many opportunities to work with many top musicians throughout Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. In 2018, I relocated to northeast Ohio. Since my return to the US, I’ve been playing mostly solo gigs, but am always interested in duo, trio, or quartet settings. My style can best be described as very smooth with lots of attention paid to rich chord voicings, contrasting dynamics, and inventive solo lines. My latest recording, My Foolish Heart: Joe Fagan Quartet featuring Barbara Burkle, was recorded and produced at the Bauer Studio in Ludwigsburg, Germany.
